Kolob Canyons by Margot

We went to Kolob Canyons and it was really fun. We got to climb on rocks and have fun and it was really, really amazing. We had to go up lots and lots of stairs. We got to make mud balls and it was so fun. So Birdie made a mud ball nest and that’s where she found it and it was really amazing.

Hike with friends

We went on a hike with our friends in Southern Utah. It was super cool. Lots of hiking through sand and then running up and down petrified sand dunes.

This bird was waiting to eat our snack scraps.

Townes is going to start self-publishing a weekly magazine entitled Handsome Boy Weekly.

Goblin Valley State Park by Else

We went to Goblin Valley. It looked really cool. The goblins looked like forests of mushrooms and there were sometimes tunnels between them. The landscape is just really amazing. We climbed on all the goblins and we went through tunnels between them. It felt like we were in a magical landscape.

Here is Townes acting like a crazy person.

This is my goblin face.

Here Townes is crawling into a nostril.

Here is a landscape of Goblin Valley.

Juniper found a little nest here.

Birdie, say cheese!

Bye! See you next time!

Utah Summup by Arianne

Utah was beautiful and we had so much fun, but it was also our introduction to trying out this new life style which has been equal parts fun and difficult. Learning to implement new routines for a girl (me) who struggles maintaining routines has been rough. We are really good at having fun but need to work on managing regular life while on the road. Turns out it’s the eating right, sleeping well, getting in and out of the car, fitting in self-care and housework, and getting along that is tough. I think we’re starting to get the hang of it. At least I hope we are. Ha.

Since this is a record for ourselves of this trip I want to throw in some photos of things we did that the kids didn’t blog about.

Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon was beautiful as always.

Bowling on BYU Campus - some of us loved it, some of us hated it.

We enjoyed seeing both the Provo Temple (my kids loved how unique it looks) and the Provo City Center Temple.

I got to take Mabel and Juniper to see the Saturday evening session of General Conference. Mabel could not believe how many people could fit in one building. (Turns out it’s over 30,000!)

My favorite photo from the BYU Art Museum:

We drove out to Red Ledges to play in the dirt. Who knew there’s a little arch and some red sandstone just outside of the Provo area!

After church one day we ran around this weird castle in Provo. It was built during the Great Depression and is currently on the grounds of Utah State Hospital. Pretty strange. As you can see we also spent some time tie dying earlier in the week.

A visit to Provo isn’t complete without a trip to the Bean Museum.

We got to meet up with my friend Rebecca, who I’ve known since our teenage years, and her two boys to hike Donut Falls. The fall colors were beautiful!

Couldn’t visit Downtown SLC and not stop by the Pioneer Museum to see the two-headed lamb. And a creepy doll belonging to (or named?) Elsie.

The Tracy Aviary was surprisingly awesome. Going with friends made it even better. Mabel fulfilled a lifelong dream of hers to eat insects.

The Two Mabels! We got to stop in and see my Grandma Mabel, one of the best people I know. She is 97 and has so many amazing stories to tell. Her memory is about 5000 times better than mine.

After leaving Provo we spent a few days in Southern Utah with friends (the kids will blog about that), and then nearly got stuck in Manti when we had both cars in the shop at the same time. So much fun!

Oregon!

A few hours after seeing Crater Lake we finally made it to our Airbnb outside of Portland. The kids loved it from the first moment we walked...
