We went to Florida Caverns State Park while Uncle Derek was visiting. It was a pretty cool little cave. There are seashells all over in the rock and super old white dinner plates still cemented to the ceiling where the first to explore the cave hung their lanterns (the dinner plate would reflect the light back down like a lampshade). We also saw a blind cave salamander.
Nearby was Falling Waters State Park with Florida’s tallest waterfall! We knew it probably wasn’t going to be super impressive but we weren’t prepared for how comical it was. There is a stream that drops 73 feet into a sink hole, and that is the waterfall. I guess when there are so few elevation changes you take what you can get … and build a state park. Haha. It felt really good to be among pine trees again, though. The pine cones were huge!
