Pike’s Peak

Because of that late spring snowstorm Pikes Peak was late opening up. We were worried we might not be able to drive to the top before we left Colorado, so we just took a chance one morning when the weather looked clear and sunny, and it turns out that they had just finished plowing to the top of the peak that morning! The drive up was breathtaking with the contrast of the bright white snow and clouds against the intense blue sky and red rocks. It was gorgeous. (It was also mine and Dave’s 16th anniversary.)

The snow was taller than our van in some places!

Some cousins had told our kids about the special high elevation donuts they sell at the top
so we had to get some.

It was windy and cold!

Those clouds though.

On our way down we stopped at the Bigfoot Crossing.
